Mission

Our mission is to promote effective housing policies and urban development strategies that support economic growth, social equity, and environmental sustainability in Zamfara State.

Function:

1. Preparation of Housing policy guidelines for the state housing delivery programs.
2. Selection of a site for the government site and services scheme.
3. Responsibilities for towns and country planning:
4. Preparation of government layouts
5. Preparation of master plans
6. Preparation of land use plans
7. Approval of private layouts
8. Approval of Building Plans
9. Physical development control activities.
10. Design and implementation of urban renewal programs.
11. Control and monitoring of Telecommunication Infrastructural development.
12. Facilitating the availability of dwelling houses, through collaboration with private investors, other arms of government and multi-nationals, e.g. UNOPs,

Mandate:

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is mandated to:

1. Formulate and implement policies related to housing and urban development.
2. Oversee the planning, development, and management of urban areas.
3. Facilitate access to affordable housing for all citizens.
4. Promote sustainable practices in urban development and housing construction.
